Changes for Better Accessibility on Desktop and Mobile Software
Digia has provided an overview of recent improvements in the Qt toolkit. The latest versions have improved performance on desktop platforms, like Mac OS X and Windows. Upcoming versions of Qt will remove the need for accessibility plugins being deployed with an application. The upshot is that an application will be accessible out of the box.
Digia has a new focus on accessibility for mobile devices and best practices for creating cross-platform, accessible applications. This includes collaboration with BestApps and a new accessibility mailing list. Digia and BestApps are also looking for experts with assistive technology to provide input on how they use mobile phone apps.
