Remote sensing and image analysis
NR has been a leading research and development institute in image analysis and pattern recognition. NR has worked with many different types of images and patterns. Remote sensing based on satellite data has been a focus since the beginning of the 1980's. Here institute's main role has since then been to do research and development of methodologies for analysis of digital remote sensing data, in particular methodologies for semi-automatic and automatic classification, parameter retrieval and object recognition. NR has also a long experience with other types of images from industry, traffic and administration.
Research areas
 We do research and development of methodologies for analysis of digital remote sensing data from satellites and aircrafts. Application areas include environmental monitoring, climate change monitoring, environmental emergency detection, natural resource mapping and map revision. |
 We have extensive knowledge in the fields of image analysis and machine learning. Object extraction, characterization and recognition from images are central for many of these applications. Another central theme is the analysis of sequences of data, including motion detection and characterization. |
