The main objective of the AvalRS project is to provide the Norwegian Public Roads Authority with avalanche inventories based on remote sensing data captured shortly after major avalanche events.

The goal of the NR's part is to demonstrate that automatic detection of avalanches from very high resolution satellite images is possible .
